The GaiaMind Project is dedicated to exploring the idea
that we, humanity, are the Earth becoming aware of itself. From this perspective,
the next step in the evolution of consciousness would seem to be our collective
recognition that through our technological and spiritual interconnectedness
we represent the Earth growing an organ of self-reflexive consciousness. While
we believe that the Earth is alive, and we are part of it, we also affirm the
Great Spirit of Oneness found at the heart of all the worlds great spiritual
traditions. What is most important may not be what we believe, but what we find
we all share when we put our thoughts aside to go into meditation and prayer
together.
Winter Solstice 1999
On the Winter Solstice 1999, and again on the Summer Solstice
2001,
the Earth, the Sun and the Moon were all Exactly Aligned
in a Straight Line with the Galactic Equator
On January 23rd 1997 we inadvertently announced the "Dawning of the Age of Aquarius" to the world, on all four channels of CNN globally. Here's the astronomical explanation why we now believe that we may have accidentally been correct, but three years early in 1997... Then again, 3 years out of 26,000 isn't too bad.
The solar eclipse on the Summer Solstice on June 21, 2001 was once again like the sweep second hand aligning with the minute and hour hand at midnight of a twenty six thousand year cycle. This solstice is one of three moments which most precisely represent the exact fold point of the transition in our time. The first, and perhaps most exact, was on the Winter Solstice in 1999, the second, this year is still exceedingly precise, and the final one on the Winter Solstice in 2010 will be closest to the date predicted by the Mayan calendar, but slightly less astronomically precise according to our best current scientific measurements.
In 2001 the axis of the solstices was again very tightly aligned with the plane of the center of the Galaxy. Thus, on the Summer Solstice in the first year of the new millennium, the Galaxy is perfectly aligned with the Sun. And, because the New Moon falls exactly on the Summer Solstice, the line of the Sun, the Moon and the Earth, as well as the plane defined by the Earth's axis with respect to the ecliptic, are all exactly aligned with the galactic equator. Also, as has been widely reported, the Moon is so perfectly aligned with the Sun, on the Moon's nodes, on the Summer Solstice, that there will be a solar eclipse. All of these factors taken together suggest a miraculous alignment, concluding a liminal period of transition to the new millennium, which started with the Full Moon at perigee on the Winter Solstice nine days before Y2K. These two solstices form the brackets to a period of a year-and-a-half at the middle of a several decades long period, which is itself the indicator of a fold point in the long term astronomical cycle of 6,500 years one quarter of the 26,000 year precessional Great Year. The last time something like this occured was in roughly 4,500 BCE when the axis of the equinoxes aligned with the Milky Way at the dawn of history.

A "Sun's eye" view of the alignment on June 21st 2001
(Actually a view from just above and behind the Moon, with a
metaphorical representation of our galaxy, as it could only be seen from outside)
I am indebted to John Major Jenkins, author of Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 and other books on Mesoamerican calendrics and cosmology, for bringing these additional alignments on the Solstices to my attention in response to what I had posted here for the solstice in December 1999. In 2040 there will be a far tighter Grand Conjunction of all seven visible planets. The last time one like this occurred was four thousand years ago, when it was observed by the ancient Chinese and used as the beginning of their calendar. All seven visible planets will not have been this tightly conjoined since 1955 BCE:
